Course Overview

The Analyzing SGX Listed Company (“Listco”) Annual Report & Sustainability Report course aims to give participants, who are neither accounting nor financial experts, broad understanding of the financial statements and sustainability report of a SGX listed company. The course teaches participants how to interpret the consequences of corporate actions and to equip them with tools to integrate the financial approach into their decision-making. The key takeaway is to enable participants to craft and phrase intelligent questions for management Q&A during the Annual General Meeting (“AGM”).This course focus is on SGX listed companies, and is designed to demystify financial jargon and concepts for non-finance and non-accounting participants. The aim is to introduce capital market and corporate governance concepts and to help participants make sense of listed financial statements and sustainability reports in a simple and practical way.In 3 hours, you will learn how to interpret financial statements of listed SGX companies and apply that information for strategic decision making. At the end of the course, you will be able to speak the same language as your accounting & finance colleagues, understand performance metrics, read and use listed company reports from the Singapore Exchange, and grasp other managerial accounting and sustainability reporting issues. .

Instructor Profile

Prof. Roy Ling is currently the CEO & Founder of FollowTrade. Concurrently, he is also an Adjunct Professor in Finance at the SKEMA Business School, an Academic Program Director at SMU Academy and an Independent Board Director on several listed companies in Asia.

Prof. Ling spent more than 20 years in investment banking and held senior positions with JPMorgan, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs and Salomon Smith Barney. His expertise is in Asia real estate, REIT IPOs and capital markets, and he has worked in New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore. During his investment banking career, Prof. Ling has originated and executed a broad range of advisory and capital market transactions including some of the most high profile transactions in the region. Prof. Ling was a former Board Director of the CFA Society of Japan. He was honored as the Real Estate Executive of the Year 2016 by Singapore Business Review, and as one of 20 Rising Stars in Real Estate 2008 by Institutional Investor.

Prof. Ling graduated from INSEAD with a Global EMBA and from the National University of Singapore with a BBA (Hons).
